Calling all urban humanitarians attending WUF9!
What do we know? What are we doing? What else needs to happen? If you're interested in or working on urban humanitarian response, recovery, preparedness and/or resilience, and feel up to asking yourself and others these questions, this networking event is the place to kick-start your WUF9 week.
Using the New Urban Agenda as a framework to inspire reflection and discussion, this event will be structured in three sections. The first will reflect on what we know about effective urban humanitarian response, the second will share examples of good practice – both tried and tested and new and emerging approaches, and finally, the third will provide an opportunity to identify potential areas for future work that still needs to be done to improve our response to crises in urban contexts.
This event is organised by ALNAP on behalf of the Urban Response Community of Practice, a diverse group with over 2400 individual members from 120 countries around the world. It is open to all WUF9 attendees, whether you've engaged with the CoP previously or not! Together we'll reflect on achievements to date and reflect on ways we as humanitarian actors can take action to further the New Urban Agenda and address critical issues in urban humanitarian crises in the future.
If you have questions about the event or would like to contribute to its organisation, please contact Leah at l.campbell@alnap.org. Otherwise, please join us on 8th February in room 404 for an exciting and productive session!
