Summary

To support the achievement of urban development goals nationally and in accordance with global agendas, specifically the New Urban Agenda, references or guidelines to implement them at the national and local levels are necessary. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing through the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) together with the NGO (Kemitraan Habitat and Ruang Waktu), took the initiative to translate the New Urban Agenda as well as creating a Quick Guide in order to implement the New Urban Agenda in Indonesia. The production of the quick guides has involved collaborative process among multi-stakeholders.

These quick guides are an instrument in "grounding" the New Urban Agenda and aligning it with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the national development agenda. It focuses on the principle of sustainable and inclusive urban economy, socio-economic-cultural equalization in the urban space integration and ensures environmental sustainability by encouraging clean energy and sustainable resources.

These quick guides contain policies and actions options to be implemented by all stakeholders, both from central and local governments, as well as the private sector, academia, practitioners and others involved in related fields. These quick guides are deliberately packed with practical writing style to be easily understood to enable all stakeholders to make decisions. There have been 4 out of 8 books that already launched books, which are about settlements and housing, environment and disasters, and governance.

We will also share our experiences in implementing the New Urban Agenda at the national, regional and local level in Indonesia. Hopefully that the sharing session on the experience of implementing the new urban agenda based on these quick guides can trigger other countries to implement the New Urban Agenda in their respective countries.
