The Caring Government-Caring Community initiative is also known in Bahasa Malaysia as 'Komuniti Prihatin-Kerajaan Prihatin' or KP-KP in short. This is a unique partnership framework that approach poverty alleviation through a unique 'top-down bottom-up' approach between the State government and its 12 local councils collectively representing the Caring Government, with grass root organisations like Residents Associations, NGOs and CSOs representing the Caring Communities.
It applies a 'Service Delivery Value Chain' concept that ensures efficient and inclusive delivery of city services to the people that is inclusive and which addresses the 17 SDG Goals. Powered by an evolving information/knowledge management system, it will help target accurately poor households by using Multi-Dimensional Poverty indicators based on Health, Education and Living Standards.
KP-KP is driven by local communities through the empowerment of local authorities and is transforming the neighbour-hoods. They have become friendlier, rich neighbourhoods are beginning to care for their poorer neighbours and the 'kampung' neighbourhood spirit is beginning to show again in busy urban neighbourhoods.
KP-KP caters for environment, social and governance concerns by recognising the inter-dependency of all these 3 areas and adopt a holistic and integrated approach towards community building. The resulting synergy enrich the community and yield positive impacts that provide sustainable benefits for the physical and time resources invested into the community.
Corporate companies are also an important partner in this initiative. They benefit from the ability to target 'communities in need' and enjoy the ease of carrying out their Corporate Social Responsibility activities with the presence of cooperating communities.
This networking event will explain the value of smart partnership between local councils, businesses, community and NGOs. Interested stakeholders are invited to join this smart partnership. Through human relationship, leadership and capacity building communities with technology as conceptualised in #SmartSelangor communities are Safe, Harmonious and Liveable(Sustainable).
