The objective of this event is to provide a platform of the Arab Countries to exchange information on challenges and progress made towards implementation of the Arab Strategy for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, SDGs and NUA in what concerns access to adequate housing. The 30th Arab Ministerial Council for Housing and Construction (AMCHC) session endorsed the preparation of an Arab Strategy for Housing and Sustainable Development placing special attention to developing strategies and programs of actions to achieve sustainable development in the Arab States. The Arab States are considered to be a framework for joint Arab action in housing and sustainable urban development, and an important step to strengthening real cooperation in the Arab region. It aims to propose strategic goals and targets to develop the housing sector, address future challenges and sustainable urban development through connecting them to the concept of urban planning and promote community participation in developing decision making. The WUF9 offers and opportunity to Arab countries to discuss a shared vision of sustainable development where access to housing is a transformative force that can lead to Arabic countries and cities to overcome challenges related to climate change, peace and sex exclusion and embark on a path to inclusive, planned and sustainable urbanization. The event will focus on three main topics: Housing orchestrated with economic and social policies; Greater consideration of housing design to improve sustainability in cities; and Innovations and PPPs to make housing makers more inclusive and ensure affordability of housing.
