Intergenerational Speed Networking: Developing Partnerships Between Youth and Multi-Stakeholders for the NUA

This intergenerational speed networking event would enable youth organisations to meet with urban experts in their thematic area of expertise, identify synergies between their work and develop potential partnerships towards the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and urban dimensions of the SDGs. This event would start with a brief review on the current progress relating to the NUA, highlighting how limited partnerships crossing generational, sectoral and stakeholder boundaries form a challenge to sustainable urban and interterritorial development. Participants would then be split into thematic groups (e.g. housing, health, environment, infrastructure, etc) with equal numbers of experts and youth present. The experts and youth would be split into pairs to discuss their work, give mutual advice and exchange contact details; after ten minutes they would switch partners and repeat the discussions.

This event would therefore provide a meaningful space for youth organisations to meet and foster a mutual exchange of ideas with other stakeholders (NGO activists, academics, government officials and more). It is expected that these discussions would provide insight and new perspective on both parties' work, and that tangible partnerships would emerge from these encounters, which accelerate the implementation of the NUA.
