Shaping healthy cities for and with children

Summary

The success of the New Urban Agenda will be determined by the degree of success to mobilise people and partnerships that can enable transdisciplinary collaboration that provide benefits of the most vulnerable community groups. If we want to succeed to create safe, inclusive, accessible, green and public spaces for all, we urgently need address the importance of children health and well-being in cities.

Strong alliances and an action focus is needed that is informed by research evidence from disciplines such as public health and public space. Child healthy cities embrace the 'Right to the City' concept and ensure that no one is left behind where all children have the ‚Right to Play'. The objective is to bring together a transdisciplinary range of international established thought leaders and key advocates that are well positioned to drive positive change that can lead to better health outcomes of children in cities. This side networking event is a platform for knowledge exchange and networking amongst stakeholder that enable tangible actions on grassroots level and city level worldwide committed to improving the health and well-being of the next generation.

• Ms Joyati Das - Human Rights Advocate and Senior Advisor to World Vision International

• Dr. Manfredo Manfredini - University of Auckland

• Ms Robyn Monro-Miller, President of the International Play Association

• Mr Gregor H. Mews, Founder & Director, Urban Synergies Group as well as University of Canberra

• Ms Bryony Cooper, Sustainable Transport Policy Expert as Moderator

• Dr. Hendrik Tieben - Chinese University of Hong Kong

In order to harness the collective wisdom in the room the focus will be on the engagement with the audience. Together we will workshop tangible actions that can help to drive change, empower children and adolescents.
